About Our Academy
The EYFS at Yarborough Academy
The Early Years Foundation Stage at Yarborough Academy caters for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. We have two distinct phases in our Foundation Stage unit. We have Nursery, in which children are admitted the term after their 3rd birthday and Reception in which children are admitted during the year that they turn 5.
Nursery
In Nursery the children are admitted to school after they have turned 3 years old. We have 3 intakes, these being in September, January and April. In nursery we offer places for 15-hour universal funding and additionally the 30-hour extended funding. Families can choose to pay for additional sessions outside of the funding they are eligible for. An additional 3-hour session costs £12.
Nursery sessions available are-
Morning Sessions- 8.50-11.50
Afternoon Sessions- 12.10-3.10
Full Day- 8.50-3.10 (£2 additional charge to cover the cost of staffing over lunch as funding does not cover this).
We aim to be flexible and support families to access sessions that work best for them and therefore families can choose different ways to use their funding entitlement. This can include a mixture of full and half day sessions.
Our Early Years Lead Teacher, Miss Howard is also our Nursery class teacher. We also have two Early Years Practitioners working in the Nursery, Mrs Steabler and Mrs Fox. In addition to this we have an Early Years Apprentice, Miss Smith. We aim to give children the best start to their education by fostering and nurturing positive relationships first and foremost. We can have up to a maximum of 52 children in the nursery in either session.

Reception
We admit children into Reception during the year in which they turn 5 years old. We currently have a maximum year group of 60 children with two teachers. Our doors are open in the morning from 8.40am and close at 8.50am. We welcome the children into the classroom each morning to a small breakfast snack before beginning our movement, rhythm and connection sessions. Our doors open up for home time at 3.05pm.
Our teachers in reception are Miss Fleet and Mrs Damms. We have two teaching assistants, Miss Johnson and Miss Heelas. In addition to this we also have two 1:1 teaching-assistants in Reception who support children in our classrooms; Miss Richmond and Miss Hewson.

The Early Years is often a child and family's first experience of school life. We want to make sure that our Family Centred approach to Early Years meets the needs of our community. In fact, we want to work with our community to provide services beyond the expected school activities, and offer support and activities that make life better for your family and your little one, whilst supporting their mental health, wellbeing and development. We'd like to know what you'd like to see us offer our community.
